The present day. A couple, just shy of thirty. She is a children’s book author; he is a model. Poisonous silence, where every seemingly innocent word is explosive. Artūrs Dīcis’s play follows the toxic relationship between Ārons (28) and Kortnija (28) at a point when they have already broken up but still spend time together. The story unfolds over a single day, during a car journey and a hike in the forest. The play’s tone balances irony, sharp dialogue and deep tragicomedy, showing how two people who once loved each other become “egomaniacs” toward one another, fighting more for their pride than for genuine reconciliation. It also asks why many young people do not want to start families or have children. Director Reinis Suhanovs: “The production will be a relationship drama, staged as an intimate chamber play and built around the interplay between two actors, creating a collision between brutalism and poetic beauty. Together with the actors, we will try to find a way to speak to the generation living in the 2020s of the 21st century.”
