Laipotāji

Director Kārlis Krūmiņš and the actors of Valmiera will create “Laipotāji” in the style of a Delartian comedy, as a story about people who want to get ahead in life despite difficulties and without shying away from the means required—including lying and killing, both literally and figuratively. The production is based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy “Othello,” in which almost everything can be interpreted and twisted: power and the individual, social standing and the status of a stranger, wisdom and resourcefulness, love and passion. It also asks whether the tragedy becomes clearer when viewed from a comic perspective. The production premiered on 7 August at the Valmiera Summer Theatre Festival and joined the Valmiera Theatre repertoire on 21 August.
