Song Hunters is a lively, humorous music theatre performance that delves into the roots of Finnish singing traditions. The story begins when Someone Who Knows Nothing meets two rather eccentric guides—the Song Historians. These kind-hearted, slightly dishevelled characters take them on a journey through time, from broadsheet ballads to rekilaulu folk songs, and from runo singing to the present day. Along the way, they discover how songs from the past still live on in today’s music—schlager, rock, pop and rap. The performance combines live music, storytelling and playful theatricality in a way that draws in young audiences. On stage, they also encounter colourful characters, from market traders to Elias Lönnrot, and knowledge accumulates almost unnoticed, in a fun and shared experience. The Laulumetsästäjät tour will be held in autumn 2026 in cooperation with the Rovaniemi Villages Development Foundation.
