Recital: Barbara Hannigan & Bertrand Chamayou

Korundi Hall’s 2027 concert year opens in exceptionally grand style, as pioneer of modern vocal music Barbara Hannigan and piano virtuoso Bertrand Chamayou perform at Korundi Hall. The concert’s highlight is Goddesses, a monumental work by American avant-garde legend John Zorn. Drawing on the texts and mythology of the Kalevala, it is a nine-part song cycle described as almost impossible to perform. It pushes the limits of the human voice in a way only Hannigan can—and we are honoured to host the work’s Finnish premiere! In addition to Zorn, the concert features intense works by Olivier Messiaen and Alexandr Scriabin.

Barbara Hannigan, soprano
Bertrand Chamayou, piano

Olivier Messiaen: Chants de terre et de ciel
Alexandr Scriabin: Poème-Nocturne, op. 61
Alexandr Scriabin: Vers la flamme, op. 72
