Rovaniemi’s Grand Christmas Opening, 7 November

Come celebrate Rovaniemi’s Grand Christmas Opening on Saturday, 7 November. The sparkling Christmas trees on the pedestrian street and the Christmas Parade departing from Lappia Hall, Santa Claus and delicious Christmas porridge will kick off the festivities at Lordi’s Square, where a varied programme and performances for the whole family are in store. The Christmas magic continues in the city centre shopping centres, with enjoyable programmes and activities. The evening culminates with the Countdown to Christmas event at Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle!

Schedule:

Christmas tree-raising on the pedestrian street from 9:00
The Christmas Parade, which launches the festivities, departs from Lappia Hall for Lordi’s Square at 11:00
Programme and performances at Lordi’s Square from 11:30 to 12:30
The Christmas magic continues in the shopping centres! Fun activities for the whole family at Revontuli, Rinteenkulma and Sampokeskus from 12:00 to 16:00
Countdown to Christmas event at 18:00 at Santa Claus Village on the Arctic Circle!

Free bus transfers to the Countdown to Christmas event. Four buses will run a nonstop shuttle service approximately between 16:30 and 20:30.

Departure point in the city centre: outside Pub Uitto, Korkalonkatu 25
Stop at Santa Claus Village: the back yard of Santa Claus Holiday Village’s Christmas House, between Joulumaantie and the Christmas House

Rovaniemen Elävä Kaupunkikeskusta ry and Likiliike Rovaniemi ry, together with their partners, are responsible for organising the Rovaniemi city-centre Christmas Parade and the events at Lordi’s Square. The Countdown to Christmas event at Santa Claus Village is organised by Santa Claus Village.
