The Resodance album, due out in October, takes Turmion Kätilöt to venues across Finland. “Electronic music turns crushing through tension, contrasts and sheer weight.”
COLOSSAL DISCO, Turmion Kätilöt’s show filling Helsinki Ice Hall on Saturday, 24 October, kicks off the next tour by the Savo-based industrial metal band. The tour arrives at Tullikamari’s Pakkahuone on Saturday, 6 February. The shows are tied to the band’s 12th studio album, due out on 23 October.
On the Resodance album, Turmion Kätilöt takes its unmistakable style to an electronic extreme, also represented by the single Raivotarjonta, released at the end of July.
“Raivotarjonta doesn’t move forward—it breathes. Built on restless rhythms and stripped-down harmonies, the song draws on the cold, unforgiving electronic music of the late 1990s and early 2000s, where simplicity becomes crushing through tension, contrasts and sheer weight,” says Turmion Kätilöt vocalist MC Raaka Pee.
The brand-new single Lunastakaa continues the brilliant coexistence of Kätilöt’s signature twisted black humour, heavy industrial metal and electronic pulse.
“The lyrics to Lunastakaa grew out of news stories about the abuse and exploitation of power, and questions about how badly a person can be broken and whether justice or compensation can ever be obtained for what happened. Later, someone also found a more self-ironic interpretation in the lyrics: artists turn themselves into commodities in exchange for money, visibility or acceptance. It fits this world frighteningly well,” says Shag-U, the song’s lyricist and the band’s other vocalist.
