Welcome to Hantverkshuset Burgsvik for a lecture with Markus Svensson. The recording of melodies for Svenska Låtar began in the first half of the 20th century, establishing regional traditions based on provinces. How different—or how similar—might the music have been played across Sweden? Many melodies in the Swedish folk music repertoire can be found in variants throughout the country and in neighbouring countries as well.
At this event, we will hear Markus’s accomplished nyckelharpa playing and listen to him speak about similarities and differences between Gotlandic and Swedish folk music. Markus Svensson is a riksspelman and world champion on the chromatic nyckelharpa, a member of the Zornmärkesjuryn, and an instructor at Hemse Folkhögskola.
After the lecture, the evening continues with a playing and dancing evening. The café will be open and stocked with treats.
The lecture is free of charge. Reserve a place through Nortic.
