As December darkness descends over S:t Nicolai ruin, history comes to life. At Medieval Christmas, you can wander through an atmospheric market where warming fires are lit, music fills the vaults, and the scents of Christmas mingle with the sound of laughter from young and old alike. Here, traditional crafts meet period music in a unique setting, where you can discover everything from nålbinding mittens to storytelling, enjoy concerts on winter evenings, and taste food and drink that warm you to the heart. Experience history in the glow of torches and, if the weather gods are kind, the crunch of snow beneath your shoes. Medieval Christmas opens with an atmospheric torchlight procession, starting at Österport on 4 December at 16:30. We then walk together through Visby’s lanes to S:t Nicolai ruin.
