Thanks to Beethoven, piano music moved out of private salons and into the concert hall. With Víkingur Ólafsson, we understand why. The Icelandic star’s latest album, Opus 109, shot up the classical charts like a rocket. Critics praise Ólafsson’s clarity and contrast, and his way of playing with feeling as well as substance.
