Mahler’s Fifth

Mahler’s Fifth Symphony vibrates with terror and harmony in an unsettling mix, from its famous opening trumpet fanfare to its lilting Viennese waltz. It also features the famous Adagietto, with its breathtaking web of strings that floats between dream and wakefulness. Mahler wrote it as a love letter to his Alma. Before that, we’ll hear newly written music by the acclaimed Finnish composer Sauli Zinovjev.
