The Chinese-Australian Qin makes his very first appearance in Sweden here. The music ranges from Samuel Barber’s heartfelt Cello Concerto to Sergei Rachmaninoff’s lyrically expansive Second Symphony. It is all conducted by Holly Hyun Choe, returning to a much-loved venue. Samuel Barber’s 1945 Cello Concerto is an expressive work, marked by powerful melodies and dramatic contrasts.
