Information from DreamQueens Productions: An introduction: Much has been written about Schubert. Less has been written about Wilhelm Müller, who wrote these poems, Die Winterreise, which moved Schubert to set them to music. Winterreise is often performed with the underlying idea that the lonely wanderer travels and encounters Death, who appears as a hurdy-gurdy player in the final song.
