About Nothing

Have you ever wondered how a play comes into being? Behind closed doors, in the farthest corners of the theatre: actors repeating the text like mantras, the director’s authoritative voice, costumes magically falling into place, and a contemplative composer creating the soundtrack? Nothing of the sort. Three actors, one playwright, one table and three chairs. Welcome to the process of creating a play! What does theatre talk about, and how? Critics on arts websites, audiences in the theatre cloakroom, directors in interviews on cultural programmes all say: everything. And we—nothing. Directed by Linas Jurkštas and based on his own play, “About Nothing” is a comic, absurd and irreverent caricature of art that turns the spotlight of self-irony on the creators themselves.
