The Grumbling Nobleman

This performance is the continuation of A. Giniočio’s trilogy of children’s plays based on motifs from Lithuanian folk tales. Joining “Soldier Jonas,” who appeared on the theatre stage, followed some time later by “Fisherman Mykolas,” and then “Lazybones Juzė,” who came shuffling along, is now “The Grumbling Nobleman.” Like the earlier plays, “The Grumbling Nobleman” is a story about an extraordinary person with an extraordinary surname, which became a sign of his fate and determined the course of his life. One day, the distinguished Nobleman, who lives in a Lithuanian village, realises that his native land is too small and too dull for him: neither the house, the fields nor the people seem worthy of his noble origins any longer. There is only one option left—to set off into the wide world and find a place befitting him, a distinguished person.
