Donaldas Haroldas G. Bissetas (1910–1955) was a well-known English writer, actor, TV programme creator and animated-film scriptwriter. A legendary English writer, he wrote more than forty books for children. His nonsense-style fairy tales brim with all kinds of oddities and surprises, making readers laugh and marvel, as the imaginative author portrays the everyday world in a light-hearted, upside-down way. His short, strange tales came to life in Keistuolių teatras’s first productions for children, “Kitą kartą” and “Aukštyn kojom”. Everyone already knows the snail Olaiva, the piglet who wanted to fly, the crow Albertina, the grumpy uncle, the grasshopper Sendis and many other characters. But the book still has many strange inhabitants who would like to befriend children. So the gosling Viljamas will invite them to share his strange stories and adventures; the cow Taškė will perform a song of her own making; and a beetle and a bulldozer named Bačas will compete to see who can endure the most. Together with a team of young actors, the director will try to turn some of D. Bisset’s rather unexpected tales into a musical journey of unforgettable adventures, open to both children and adults. After all, we all sometimes long for magic or songs; we all hide from strange fears or look for new friends. The gosling Vilis had a similar thought: “How lovely it would be if someone said ‘Pyp pyp!’ to me.” The pigeons cooed, the ducks quacked, and the crows cawed in the treetops. But nobody, absolutely nobody, said to him, “Pyp pyp”.
