Jonas Kareivis

A musical performance for children based on Lithuanian and non-Lithuanian folk tales. First seen by audiences in 1993, winning their hearts and becoming a legend, the play “Jonas Kareivis” returns to Keistuolių teatras in a new production! Once upon a time there lived Jonas. Not just any Jonas, but Jonas the Soldier. He set out into the world not in search of happiness, but of the missing Princess. And all sorts of things happen along the way… Adventures, weddings, and the merriest celebrations, with songs and dances… All this can be found in Keistuolių teatras’s “Jonas Kareivis,” inspired by Lithuanian and non-Lithuanian folk tales, legends, songs, and hearsay. The strangest things happen in Jonas the Soldier’s world: horses turn into people, mountains into mountaineers; tears flow from joy, and in times of trouble, a song comes to the rescue. If you are sad or afraid of misfortune, come and see us—we’ll sing together.
