Baubas

Do you remember the animated short film *Baubas* by film director Ilja Bereznickas? More than one generation grew up watching it and dreaming about how wonderful it would be to become friends with Baubas himself—a charming, cheerful, resourceful and slightly mischievous character. Now Baubas is moving from the screen to the theatre stage. In director Milda Mičiulytė’s production, he invites young audience members to a live encounter with imagination, where even the strangest characters become familiar. For their parents, it is a chance to revisit a world full of fantasy and the feeling of childhood, when everything seemed possible.

When a storm drives away sleep, the only way to fall asleep again is a story told by your parents. But what if they don’t have time? Then you turn to your grandfather. The production tells the story of a girl who, with the help of creativity and her grandfather’s wisdom, turns her fear into a friend. It is a story about loneliness that imagination can dispel, and about a friendship that, like dust, cannot be vacuumed away. The story invites young children and their parents to make friends with their fears and reminds us that creativity can be what brings us closer together.
