Farewell to the Play: THE TALE OF THE LITTLE TURTLE

This is a musical tale about a little turtle who, rejected by his older brothers, sets off alone into the world in search of happiness. During the journey, he learns many important things, including that happiness is different for everyone. One of „Lėlė“’s oldest productions stands out for its inventive set design (as if we were seeing the world through the little turtle’s eyes), its character portrayals tinged with unexpected humour (for example, the Bird of Happiness, endowed with magical powers but little sense), and the actors’ improvisations. Irmantas Jankaitis has performed in the play since 1998. This was the popular drama actor’s debut in puppet theatre and served as his introduction to the puppeteer’s profession (here, Irmantas plays more than ten different characters!). Today, Jankaitis is one of „Lėlė“’s most prominent creators.
