ARRIVAL From Sweden: The Music of ABBA

Start the New Year in Druskininkai with ABBA music! On January 1, ARRIVAL From Sweden, a world-renowned ambassador of ABBA’s music from Sweden, will perform its “The Music of ABBA” show at the new Druskininkai Culture and Congress Palace. Audiences can look forward to an impressive live show featuring ABBA’s best-known hits: “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia,” “SOS,” “The Winner Takes It All,” “Super Trouper,” “Money, Money, Money,” “Fernando,” “Waterloo,” “Chiquitita,” “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!,” “Thank You for the Music” and, of course, the unofficial New Year’s anthem, “Happy New Year.”

The modern Druskininkai Culture and Congress Palace, set to open in mid-December, is already considered one of the city’s most important projects in recent years. It is expected to become a new hub for concerts, theatre performances, conferences and international events. It has already been announced that the first New Year’s Eve celebration at the venue will take place on December 31 with one of Lithuania’s most prominent bands, Lemon Joy!

ARRIVAL FROM SWEDEN

ARRIVAL From Sweden was formed in 1995 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and almost immediately became one of the world’s most popular ABBA tribute bands. In more than three decades, the band has performed in over 80 countries and completed more than 150 tours in the United States. Its impressive stage experience also includes performances with more than 150 symphony orchestras, including those of Boston, San Francisco, Dallas and Atlanta. ARRIVAL From Sweden has also performed in Lithuania several times; a few years ago, it gave four impressive concerts with the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra.

Having celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, ARRIVAL From Sweden is known for highly authentic ABBA shows, which fans and music critics regard as among the best in the world. The performances recreate not only ABBA’s music but also the legendary band’s stage aesthetic: the musicians wear recreations of ABBA’s original stage costumes, created in collaboration with Owe Sandström, the designer who made ABBA’s original stage outfits.

The song “Just A Notion” holds a special place in the band’s history. ARRIVAL From Sweden is the only band performing ABBA’s music to have received permission from Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson to record an ABBA song that had not previously been officially released. The band recorded “Just A Notion” in 1999, and in 2021, more than two decades later, the song was released on ABBA’s own album “Voyage,” the band’s first studio album in almost 40 years.

There are many bands around the world performing ABBA songs, but even the official ABBA fan club recognises ARRIVAL From Sweden as the world’s best ABBA tribute band. Absolutely the best ABBA since ABBA!
