DAINAVA | Launch of the New Issue

On November 13 at 6 p.m., we invite you to the launch of the renewed Dzūkija culture magazine “Dainava” at the Žakas Lipšicas Museum in Druskininkai! “Dainava” is welcoming its 26th autumn—and this time, it has changed considerably. There is a new editor, a refreshed magazine design, and new sections, contributors and topics. The 112-page issue features cultural alternatives, the Tower of Pisa that rose up in Kabeliai, contemporary art, literature, ethnography, heritage, efforts to understand the secret language of mushrooms, and people’s relationships with the places where they live or happen upon. So what is Dzūkija like today? How do we remember, explore, create and interpret it? Our region is changing, and so is the way we talk about it. What stories about Dzūkija do we want to tell and hear? And, ultimately, who are the newcomers? At the launch, we will browse the latest issue and talk about its writing and a Dzūkija that cannot be contained by a single definition. The magazine’s editorial team and contributors will join the conversation: Mindaugas Lapelė, Algimantas Černiauskas, Justina Muralytė Kozlovė, Ieva Bernotaitė and Algimantas Rokas Černiauskas.
