Merūnas: New Album Presentation

MERŪNAS – NEW ALBUM PRESENTATION. With a string quartet and a band.

One of Lithuania’s most prominent tenors, Merūnas Vitulskis, presents his new album and invites audiences to special launch concerts in cities across Lithuania. The new album is a sensitive and mature musical story about love: about a wonderful feeling that arrives, changes a person, protects them through life’s most unexpected turns and lasts forever. As Merūnas sings in one of the album’s tracks, you can give love your very soul—and then whatever happens, happens...

The new songs were created to reveal the full beauty of Merūnas’s distinctive voice. The album’s songs were written by Merūnas, Ieva Narkutė and Stanislavas Stavickis. The album was recorded at the Lithuanian Television recording studio, with a select symphony orchestra conducted by Paulius Lygnugaris.

On the concert tour, audiences will also have the chance to hear the pieces in a particularly beautiful sound: the new songs have been specially arranged for live performance by a string quartet and a band. They will accompany Merūnas throughout the tour.

The new album recordings with a symphony orchestra, the demanding vocal parts, and the concert tour with a string quartet and a band represent a symbolic return to the broad, live and elegant sound that Merūnas’s listeners remember so well from the album “Muzika – Lietuvai”. Merūnas returns to this sound exactly ten years later. Released in 2016, “Muzika – Lietuvai”, created together with composer Kipras Mašanauskas and recorded with the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, became one of the most ambitious projects of the singer’s career. The album was accompanied by major concerts in arenas across the country with the LVSO and conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius, followed by a concert tour of Lithuania. It was then that “Tas jausmas”, still performed at Merūnas’s concerts, was born. The “Muzika – Lietuvai” duet with Aistė Smilgevičiūtė was also warmly received by audiences.

Merūnas smiles and reveals that the new album will also feature a duet with another wonderful vocalist. Who is she? For now, it’s a secret. Before the concert tour, the singer plans to introduce listeners to the key tracks from the new album, including the upcoming duet. Merūnas’s new album, recorded with an orchestra, will also be released on vinyl.
