Dear friends, describing the phenomenon of BROLIŲ TAUTKŲ RONDO in a small space is an impossible task! Here are the facts: · The group was formed in 1976. · The group’s first members were ALVIDAS TAUTKUS, GINTAUTAS TAUTKUS, ANTANAS MORKEVIČIUS, ARŪNAS ARMONAS and ROMAS UŽUSIENIS. · On 16 July 1984, the Ministry of Culture granted the group the status of a non-staff philharmonic ensemble and approved the name “RONDO.”
Its repertoire includes LAUKŲ GĖLĖ; PELENĖ; TREČIAS ATSIDUSIMAS; LIETUVA; DUBYSOS VAIKAI; MARGARITA; ŽALGIRI; EGLE, MANO SESE; PRISIGLAUSK; ŽODŽIAI; AMŽINAS LAUKIMAS, and many others.
Here are some comments: “The group in our hearts … The bards of the nation … Wonderful songs that live on forever … Very patriotic song lyrics … The best Lithuanian group of all time …” and so on.
But in reality, BROLIŲ TAUTKŲ RONDO is a group with a unique history of creation and development. Many artists grew and developed within the group, bringing a wealth of colour to its work. There were difficult episodes involving censorship, and periods when the group’s activities were shut down and then resumed. In all, more than 50 different people have been involved in the group. It is a patriotic group, a voice for Lithuania, whose very name stirs passions even today! Everyone wants a piece of “RONDO”; everyone needs it. This proves, simply, that it was a talented ensemble that will live on forever. No matter who might want to distort historical facts or try to compile Lithuania’s most popular song charts, BROLIŲ TAUTKŲ RONDO cannot be erased from people’s memory! People know who’s who.
ABOUT THE CONCERT
The first members of BROLIŲ TAUTKŲ RONDO have come together and decided to mark the group’s 50th anniversary. For the jubilee concert, they selected a repertoire spanning the group’s beginnings, from 1978 to 1988, including all the songs mentioned above. They then approached composer, arranger and producer RAIGARDAS TAUTKUS so that these songs would sound not only as they did 50 years ago, but also new and fresh, and feel familiar and accessible to audiences today. And so it came to pass.
RAIGARDAS also added the ŠAMPANINIS KAUNO CHORAS to the programme, making the concert even more splendid and impressive. To be honest, the concert became so impressive that after it ended, the audience had no intention of leaving, demanding encore after encore. Not to mention that throughout the concert people clap and sing along, and by the end, everyone is dancing! It is so lovely and beautiful that you want to hug everyone and thank them for coming, for remembering, and for still loving us!
THANK YOU, dear friends! Come along! We’ll see you there! We want all of LITHUANIA to celebrate this jubilee with us! We all understand perfectly well that an anniversary like this is unlikely to come around again!
