2 METERS: Deivis Norvilas and Rafailas Karpis announce a New Year’s show at Palangos koncertų salė

After a successful tour across Lithuania, the “2 METERS” project said goodbye to its “Funniest Concert of the Year” programme in a sold-out Palangos koncertų salė. But the farewell is only temporary. Deividas Norvilas-Deivis and Rafailas Karpis are already preparing a new surprise for audiences and will return to Palangos koncertų salė on December 31 with a special live New Year’s show.

The new programme, “Funniest Christmas Show”, presented in December and directed by Andrius Žiurauskas, will be much more than a concert. Audiences can look forward to a spectacle combining elements of a concert, play, comedy performance and show, with LED-screen visuals, impressive stage design, lighting effects, specially composed music and unexpected surprises.

“Christmas is a time of miracles not only for audiences, but for us performers too, so we’ll try to create a miracle on stage. We’re preparing lots of interesting ideas that we hope will lift people into a true Christmas and New Year mood,” says Rafailas.

“There’ll be Christmas songs and surprises. We’ll definitely do everything as we always do—with lots of laughter,” Deivis adds.

The organisers, Pepper Live, hint that audiences can expect not only new original songs, but also unexpected interpretations of popular works. The team can promise one thing already: there will be no pigeons flying around in this show. The organisers accept no responsibility, however, for any of the other surprises awaiting audiences on stage.

During the “Funniest Concert of the Year” tour, which lasted more than six months, the duo travelled across Lithuania and gave several dozen concerts. As they joke, they also had time to get to know each other better.

“My favourite thing about Deivis is that he’s the only colleague who doesn’t back me up on stage. His worst trait? He’s very persistent—he keeps picking at me for no reason, and something is always bothering him. Though, to be honest, I’m probably the only one more persistent than he is,” Rafailas says with a laugh.

Deivis also lists his stage partner’s shortcomings with a smile. “Rafailas’s worst trait is that on trips he picks exceptionally bad restaurants, and the whole team has to go there. The good thing is that once he realises where he’s brought us, he pays for everyone,” the performer says.

The duo’s openness has become one of the ingredients behind the success of the “2 METERS” project. According to Rafailas, audiences like seeing real people rather than scripted characters. “We’re not afraid to express real feelings on stage—to argue or put each other in our place. If we’re not the best duo in Lithuania, then we’re certainly one of the most genuine. We don’t pretend,” he says.

On tour, the duo discovered that they complement each other perfectly not only on stage, but behind the scenes too. “We complement each other with food, usually low-calorie, because Rafailas watches not only his own figure, but mine too,” Deivis says solemnly.
