Concert Series “From Christmas to New Year.” Christmas Jazz

The project “Christmas Jazz” by the Kaunas State Choir and Kaunas Big Band, now a cherished tradition, will once again delight audiences during the holiday season! At this concert, filled with jazz rhythms, gospel inflections and good cheer, you will hear familiar Christmas carols sung around the world, given new colours through arrangements that combine the choir’s powerful sound with the big band’s jazzy exuberance. Songs, carols, bright melodies, clear harmonies, joy and hope are the key words for this programme. Alongside a series of short vocal and instrumental miniatures, the audience will also hear the uplifting three-part suite “Rejoice” by British composer Will Todd. The Kaunas State Choir, which most often performs monumental and serious works of classical music, appears here in a completely different light alongside the energetic Kaunas Big Band. This is a jazzing, swinging alliance between two ensembles! The project’s initiators, Kaunas State Philharmonic and the concert institution “Kauno santaka,” invite you not to miss this Christmas concert, which has attracted great interest from audiences.
