Mindaugas Stumbras Quartet

One of Lithuania’s most prominent jazz guitarists and composers, Mindaugas Stumbras presents his original music on the stage of Kauno valstybinė filharmonija. This is a musical journey revealing the broad range of the artist’s work, from subtle acoustic textures to intense, energy-pulsing jazz improvisations. Stumbras’s music brings together emotional depth, intellect and a subtle sound aesthetic. Established on the international scene, the performer graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and his work is heard at prestigious European jazz festivals and clubs. At the concert, he and the quartet he formed will perform original music from the albums “Among the Pines” and “Inspirations,” as well as his latest work, “The Spinner of Yarns.” The programme will also include several entirely new pieces that have never been performed before. Each composition is like a story in its own right, infused with personal experiences, cultural impressions and inner searching. These stories weave together the freedom of jazz improvisation, the colours of world music and contemporary harmonies, which the quartet brings vividly to life in performance.
