On Sunday, November 29, Kaunas Philharmonic once again invites its youngest and most curious listeners to “Children’s Music Day.” If your child finds it hard to sit through a traditional concert, this event is a great alternative way to discover and become familiar with the world of musical sounds! During the event, music teachers will be waiting for young music fans in the Philharmonic’s halls and rehearsal rooms, ready to reveal the biggest secrets of musical instruments. Children can play a concert grand piano, violin or cello, blow a flute, strum a guitar, beat drums, and get to know traditional folk instruments. The music activities will be led by professional musicians and educators. Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra flutist and educator Aušra Lukoševičiūtė will talk about the graceful flute. Accomplished guitarist and educator Sergejus Krinicinas, a member of the Baltic Guitar Quartet, will teach children to play classical guitar. Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra cellist Gaudas Paulius Krištaponis and Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra violinist Indrė Andruškevičiūtė will introduce children to string instruments. Pianist Lina Krėpštaitė, a member of the Kaunas Piano Trio, will reveal the secrets of the piano to young enthusiasts. Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra percussionist Vaidas Kasparavičius will talk about percussion instruments. Participants in “Children’s Music Day” will also have the chance to try traditional folk instruments: the Pentecost horn, ožragis, horns, skudučiai, lumzdelis, bagpipes, drum, cymbals, and kanklės. These instruments will be presented by young performers from the folk ensemble “Ratilėlis.” The children’s choir “Naujaliukai” from Kaunas Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium, the Kaunas Piano Trio, and Lukas Katinas will invite you to a musical story—a lively journey through an autumnal forest. There, we will surely meet two curious little hedgehogs, Puk and Pus, a family of geese, and even the Wolf himself! Inspired by songs by Zita Bružaitė, written to poems by Martynas Vainilaitis and Violeta Palčinskaitė, the musical performance will invite young viewers into a fairy tale about friendship, helping one another, and the wonders of the approaching winter. And so that you don’t leave Kaunas Philharmonic empty-handed, teachers and pupils from Kaunas Antanas Martinaitis Art School will invite you to a creative workshop where children can make a lovely souvenir. The event is free; places are limited. Advance registration by completing the registration form is required. Everyone who registers successfully will receive a confirmation email. Registration times: 12:00–13:45 Children’s Music Day; 14:00–15:45 Children’s Music Day. Please note: only participants who registered in advance will be admitted, and only at the time for which they registered. Please arrive at Kaunas Philharmonic no earlier than 15 minutes before your event begins. The event is for children aged 4–12. Photographs will be taken at the event. Please be aware that you may appear in event photos, which may be made publicly accessible.
