One of the most prominent Lithuanian pianists of his generation, Lukas Geniušas returns to Kaunas—this time with the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra—to invite audiences into the exceptionally subtle and inspiring world of Ludwig van Beethoven’s music. Internationally acclaimed pianist Lukas Geniušas captivates not only with his outstanding virtuosity, but also with his remarkable ability to reveal the inner drama, colours and emotional depth of every work. His interpretations are heard in prestigious concert halls around the world, while his subtle musical sensibility and creative courage have made him one of today’s most compelling ambassadors of Lithuanian music on the world stage.
At the heart of the concert is Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58—one of the great Viennese classicist’s most poetic, mysterious and innovative works. The very beginning of the concerto breaks with the traditions of its time: instead of the customary orchestral introduction, the piano begins the quiet musical narrative, as if emerging from nowhere. From this fragile and intimate opening unfolds a musical journey of extraordinary beauty—from luminous lyricism and subtle dialogues to dramatic confrontations and a triumphant energy of life.
Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto is more than a showcase for the soloist’s virtuosity. It is a special conversation between pianist and orchestra, in which drama, tenderness, tension and hope take shape. Lukas Geniušas’s artistic maturity, sensitivity to musical detail and exceptional interpretive imagination promise to bring this Beethoven masterpiece to life in a distinctive way. This is an evening where the work of one of the greatest geniuses in music history meets the singular personality of a soloist and the living sound of a symphony orchestra.
