Music of Transformations

We invite you to a concert by the talented pianist Darius Mažintas, who will present the work of minimalist music master Philip Glass. D. Mažintas is renowned for his distinctive interpretations and ability to convey the most subtle emotions. Tonight, his performance will invite you on an inward journey, revealing subtle transformations of sound, a sense of the passage of time, and meditative calm. This piano programme reflects continual transformation—from a simple motif to a deeply transformative musical experience.

Five Metamorphoses are the first five pieces in Ph. Glass’s cycle “Solo Piano.” Their title refers to Franz Kafka’s 1915 novella “The Metamorphosis,” which inspired the cycle. All five pieces were written in 1988, but some were composed for the production of “The Metamorphosis,” while others were written for Errol Morris’s 1988 documentary film “The Thin Blue Line” (Lithuanian: “Plonytė mėlyna linija”), which tells the story of Randall Adams, who was sentenced to life in prison for a murder he did not commit.
