An interactive, theatrical musical morning based on the works of Motiejus Valančius. Is it always worth telling the truth? Why is friendship so important? Can old Lithuanian stories still interest children today? We invite children aged 3–12, parents, grandmothers and grandfathers to a cheerful musical morning, where Motiejus Valančius’s moral tales come to life on stage through theatre, live music and playful storytelling. Everyone knew that Mikė could lie, yet he always managed to fool others. But what happens when a lie starts weaving ever more stories? Can you always find your way out of them? Together with a lively band of storytellers and musicians, children will journey into the world of Motiejus Valančius, meeting Mikė the Little Liar, Prancė the Little Sparrowhawk, lively Vencė and other colourful characters. With live music playing, the little ones will not only listen to stories but become part of them. The programme features Lithuanian instruments—kanklės, birbynės, horns and others—whose sounds will help children discover our musical heritage. This is not a lesson where you have to sit quietly. It is a live encounter that invites children to ask questions, laugh, join in and discover together that stories written more than a century ago still speak today about what matters most: honesty, friendship, responsibility and respect for one another. The programme is intended for kindergarten and primary school children. The concert is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
