After a year-long break, the play “Happiness Is a Fox” returns to the stage. It is based on a children’s book that has won numerous awards in Lithuania and abroad. The play tells a story about friendship and the values of life—generosity, the sadness of loss, and the joy of discovery. All this unfolds against a backdrop of live music and lively, playful, interactive action. The popular play about happiness will once again delight young theatre-goers. At performances in different cities across Lithuania, they can meet Fox and Povilas and discover a moving story. Those who have read the book on which the play is based can compare its characters with the roles portrayed by the actors. The book behind the play is well known to readers in Lithuania and abroad. The story of the friendship between a fox and a boy, created by writer Evelina Daciūtė and illustrator Aušra Kiudulaitė, has attracted worldwide interest and received excellent reviews at children’s book fairs in Italy, Japan, South Korea, China, and America; it is read around the world. “We’re really looking forward to the new performances and meeting the children, because it’s a celebration not only for them, but for us, the actors, too. We don’t often get the chance to run around, fool around, and dream with them. In this play, children become active participants: they exercise with us, look for Miss Margarita, and seek the answer to the question of what happiness is,” says Daiva Rudytė, an actress in the play.
