Comedy “Dating Games”

The protagonists of the romantic comedy “Dating Games,” Richard and Julia, recently officially divorced, but their divorce exists only as a formality on paper. After spending many years married, the couple have remained close friends, sincerely wishing each other happiness in new relationships. Yet it soon becomes clear that things are much more complicated than they might seem at first… They both begin looking for new partners by going on blind dates. Although dating is a great way to find your other half, it becomes much trickier when you have spent several decades married. A colourful—and sometimes rather odd—array of dating partners awaits the former spouses, Richard and Julia. Each new meeting convinces them more and more that the whole world of dating is one big misunderstanding. The increasingly bewildered Richard and disappointed Julia would have given up long ago if they did not continually support each other. Will their efforts to find love again end in complete failure? Or will they succeed after all, and find new, wonderful relationships in their lives? “Dating Games” is a fun, fast-paced and wittily biting comedy about men and women trying to understand one another, fall for each other and, if they are lucky, make it to a second date. There will be plenty of mistakes, unexpected twists, triumphs, failures and laughter, because love, like sport, takes endurance, courage and a little luck. The play was written by British playwright Peter Quilter, whose works have been staged in more than 40 countries, including on Broadway and in London’s West End. P. Quilter is one of the most frequently staged contemporary playwrights in the world. He has been nominated twice for the prestigious Olivier Award (for Best New Play and Best New Comedy), and his Broadway debut earned three Tony nominations.
