Daughter

Danish writer Karina Mikaelis paints a portrait of her mother with affection and gentle humor in the autobiographically inspired novel *Mother*. The production brings to life several episodes from the novel, revealing a rich spectrum of family emotions. Like the novel’s author, the creators of this production speak of complicated, conflicting, unspoken and concealed feelings, as well as the deeply warm and compassionate bonds between the people closest to one another—a mother and her children. Do mothers really know their children best? How can children live with the shadows of their parents’ past? How can we love our loved ones without hurting them with that love?
