Based on the Academy Award-winning DreamWorks Animation film, the musical Shrek is a Tony Award-winning fairy-tale adventure featuring all-new songs by Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline, or Change) and a funny, entertaining script by David Lindsay-Abaire. The musical Shrek brings the beloved film characters to life and shows that this light-hearted story has more layers of meaning than may meet the eye.

“Once upon a time, there lived a little ogre named Shrek…” So begins the tale of an unlikely hero who embarks on a life-changing journey alongside a funny Donkey and a feisty Princess who does not want to be rescued. Add a hot-tempered villain, a self-assured Gingerbread Man, and more than a dozen other fairy-tale misfits, and you have a chaos only a true hero can tame. Fortunately, that hero exists, and his name is Shrek.

Shrek is a treasure trove of creative possibilities: spectacular costumes, sets, puppets, and even a fire-breathing dragon! Entertaining the whole family with playful wit, Shrek reminds us once again that true beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.
