Based on the Academy Award-winning DreamWorks Animation film, the Tony Award-winning musical Shrek is a fairy-tale adventure featuring all-new songs by Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Caroline, or Change) and a fun, funny script by David Lindsay-Abaire. Shrek the Musical brings the film’s beloved characters to life and shows that this delightful story has more layers of meaning than might appear at first glance.

“Once upon a time, there lived a little ogre named Shrek…” So begins the tale of an unlikely hero who embarks on a life-changing journey with a hilarious Donkey and a feisty Princess who does not want to be rescued. Add a hot-tempered villain, a self-assured Gingerbread Man, and more than a dozen other fairy-tale misfits, and you have a chaos that only a true hero can handle. Fortunately, there is such a hero, and his name is Shrek.

Shrek is a treasure trove of creative possibilities: spectacular costumes, sets, puppets, and even a fire-breathing dragon! Playfully and wittily entertaining the whole family, Shrek reminds us once again that true beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.
