FORTŪNA Awards for composer Antanas Jasenka and set designer Giedrė Brazytė for the opera for children DRYŽUOTA OPERA!

Striped Opera is a sung theatrical production that tells a story which introduces the mysterious world of music with wit and ease, for children and parents alike. Its main characters are commonly used musical terms and symbols. They include the teacher Tonalijus, the palace guards—the Bass and Treble Clefs—and the princess’s pet, Zebra Indigo, among many others.

In the Land of Music, a princess named Melody is born to King Rhythm and Queen Harmony. She grows up happily, attends music school, and learns how to be a princess. But one day, evil forces creep into the Land of Music and disrupt her happy life. Discord, sadness, and a great cold take hold. Princess Melody is kidnapped by the evil wizard Komercijus. Her friend Triukšmutis sets off to rescue her. Will he succeed? Who will win?

In this opera, children will see that life in the Kingdom of Music is much like their own. The opera also pays particular attention to relationships between family members, so parents and children watching it will recognise their own family life and the disagreements that arise, and perhaps find advice on how to resolve them.
