STRIPED OPERA is a sung theatrical performance that tells a story introducing the mysterious world of music to children and parents in a witty, light-hearted way. Its main characters are commonly used musical terms and symbols: there is the teacher Tonalijus, the palace guards—the bass and treble clefs—and the princess’s pet, Zebra Indigo, among many others.

In the Land of Music, Princess Melody is born to King Rhythm and Queen Harmony. She grows up happily, attends music school and learns to be a princess. But one day, evil forces creep into the Land of Music and disrupt her happy life. Discord, sadness and bitter cold prevail. The evil wizard Komercijus kidnaps Princess Melody, and her friend Triukšmutis sets out to rescue her. Will he succeed? Who will win?

In this opera, children will see that life in the Kingdom of Music is much like their own. The opera also pays particular attention to relationships between family members. As parents and children watch, they will recognise their own family life and the disagreements that arise, and perhaps find advice on how to resolve them.
