Guests | Ryuichi Sakamoto – Poet of Sound / Pianist Darius Mažintas

On 8 December 2026, the Panevėžio Muzikinis Teatras will fill with music of extraordinary sensitivity: works for piano by one of the most distinguished composers of our time, Ryuichi Sakamoto, will come to life in pianist Darius Mažintas’s interpretation. This special concert is dedicated to the memory of the genius who left us a few years ago—a creator whose music became poetry of silence and sound, a subtle dialogue between fragility and light.

Ryuichi Sakamoto’s work, imbued with Eastern aesthetics and universal beauty, invites listeners on an inner journey. His music brings together a breath of melancholy and clear flashes of light: each note is like a careful touch upon the human soul, opening up its deepest emotional spaces.

Pianist Darius Mažintas is an artist recognised in Lithuania and abroad, capable of creating extraordinary moments in which time seems to stand still. His interpretations convey calm and inner focus, alongside passion and intellectual depth. His experience on international stages enables him to perform R. Sakamoto’s music with respect, sensitivity and creative freedom.

This programme began its musical journey in Vilnius, where four evenings of R. Sakamoto’s music have already sold out. It will now visit Anykščiai, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Birštonas and Rokiškis, before arriving in Panevėžys on 8 December. Here, Ryuichi Sakamoto’s music will fill the Panevėžio Muzikinis Teatras with delicate piano sounds, tender emotions and a special atmosphere.

The evening of 8 December will be more than a concert: it will be a moving encounter with music that invites us to pause, listen and remember what truly matters. This is an evening not only for music lovers, but for anyone seeking meaning, silence and beauty.
