A good day at work—is that possible? At the start of the workday, most people begin waiting for it to end, because work is not entertainment but a place to earn money. Could things be different?
This time, AKTORIŲ teatras presents a very work-focused, yet relaxing comedy, A DAY AT WORK LIKE A CELEBRATION, based on French author Isabelle Grolier’s play “Happy at Work”. The play takes place in a newspaper newsroom whose finances worsen with each passing month because, in the internet age, printed newspapers have become unpopular. The three employees in the newsroom do not particularly like one another or their jobs; they are always looking for a way to get out of the newsroom and go home as quickly as possible. The director in charge of the newspaper cannot stand the employees’ attitude to work, but they all keep working with gritted teeth because they have no other choice.
Then an unexpected solution is offered by a Dutch investor, who promises to invest in the newspaper on one strange condition: from now on, the employees must be happy at work and go to work as if it were a celebration! Will four colleagues who dislike one another find a way forward? That is where the real chaos begins, along with funny situations, amusing misunderstandings and, above all, even more work!
Perhaps this performance will give audiences the answer the whole world has been searching for for centuries: how to be happy at work. And if you do not find the answer, you will at least leave with an optimistic outlook on work—loved by some, disliked by others—and the happiness everyone strives for.
