“Let’s Make an Opera” is an educational work for children and young people by the renowned British composer Benjamin Britten. The composer included the opera “The Little Sweep,” created in 1949, in the larger project “Let’s Make an Opera!”, which invites audiences not only to watch the performance but also to become part of it.

The opera tells the story of Sam, a young chimney sweep who works in difficult conditions and suffers injustice at the hands of adults. But a group of children decide to help him. Friendship, courage, compassion and solidarity become more important than fear, and the children’s ingenuity overcomes every obstacle.

Benjamin Britten believed that opera could be close and accessible to every child. The work is therefore full of memorable melodies and playful scenes, and its young performers become the main heroes of the story.
