A ticket is required for both children and parents 🙂 In Klaipėda Youth Theatre’s play for the whole family, “A Story of One Courtyard,” you’ll meet the mysterious, resourceful and, of course, funny characters known as Kiemūnai. Hearing about them for the first time? Of course! The Kiemūnai are a secretive species, and in the life that unfolds beyond the theatre walls, we can neither see, feel nor hear them. So who are the Kiemūnai? The Courtyard Encyclopedia says: Kiemūnai (Lithuanian: courtyard animals) are invisible residents of children’s playgrounds whose one purpose is to give children playing in the courtyard the best impressions and the most enjoyable experiences. Kiemūnai are found all over the world, most often in courtyards of all types and sizes, provided there are children living nearby. Still think you’ve never encountered the Kiemūnai? Then just briefly remember what happens in the courtyard: children swing higher than their fear allows, fall safely from greater heights than logic permits, and come up with another game as soon as they get bored with one. We have the Kiemūnai to thank for these courtyard delights! Thanks only to these invisible guardians of the courtyard, children safely, boldly and with enough dirt experience all the courtyard’s adventures in the playground, and learn to get to know its other visitors. The play “A Story of One Courtyard” offers the chance to see the mysterious and playful world of the Kiemūnai with your own eyes for the first time, and prompts the question: perhaps it’s worth going outside and visiting the courtyard more often?
