Šeiko Dance Theatre: The Seasons — Dance and Live Music Performance

Four seasons, four cellos, four radically different dancers. The dance and live music performance *The Seasons* is the first collaboration between Šeiko Dance Theatre and the Klaipėda Cello Quartet, led by Mindaugas Bačkus. Performed live by the cellists, Antonio Vivaldi’s *The Four Seasons*, one of the world’s most popular works, takes on a new, deconstructed form on stage. The different seasons and elements are embodied by performers who are each unique in their field, with markedly different styles and physical expression: aristocratic ballerina Beata Molytė; Benas Šarka, known as the theatre shaman; actor and mime Aleksas Mažonas; and Marius Pinigis, one of the strongest contemporary dancers of his generation. Choreographer Agnija Šeiko has skillfully orchestrated these personalities’ collaboration on stage, giving them ample freedom of expression. The result is an unexpected harmony of dance and music among the different performers.
