Carmen

CATALAN FLAMENCO BALLET | CATALAN FLAMENCO BALLET “CARMEN”

The Catalan Flamenco Ballet brings the Carmen myth to life in a production that has achieved international success. The Catalan Flamenco Ballet (BFC) has reached new artistic heights with its innovative project “Carmen”—a striking interpretation of G. Bizet’s classical work. This exceptional production, which harmoniously combines flamenco with a timeless story, has become a genuine international success, captivating audiences both at home and abroad.

BFC challenges traditional perceptions of Carmen by modernising her story and adding elements that resonate deeply with contemporary society. In this version, Carmen becomes a modern symbol of freedom and courage, embodying women’s struggle for their rights in an unequal world. Here, flamenco is the principal means of emotional expression, drawing audiences into an atmosphere that powerfully conveys the passion and suffering of this immortal heroine.

“Carmen” presents a contemporary flamenco and ballet adaptation, creating a vivid cultural fusion and exploring the universal values within the Carmen myth. The intense emotions of authentic flamenco intertwine with P. Mérimée’s original story, offering a unique experience for lovers of all art forms. Each performance is a triumph of dance, music and theatre, leaving an indelible impression on everyone fortunate enough to see it.

Audience reactions have been extremely positive, with viewers praising the performers’ skill and the production’s high quality. Audiences enjoy not only a visual and musical masterpiece, but also discover in “Carmen” a reflection of contemporary reality and an invitation to consider the ongoing struggle for equality.

The Catalan Flamenco Ballet, one of the most significant cultural ensembles, has become synonymous with innovation, excellence and a passion for the performing arts. Since its founding, BFC has boldly pushed boundaries, taking traditional flamenco to a new level, continually expanding its artistic possibilities and challenging established norms. The ensemble is renowned for its pursuit of perfection, attracting top-level talent and creating performances that move audiences of all ages.
