How is a new star born — and what do we pay for it? The new musical theatre production “This Is How a Star Was Born” is a witty, brutal and extraordinarily moving story about the price of fame and the collapse of identity behind the scenes. When an unexpected voice upends the stage monarchy, the company splits apart, games of love and ambition reveal art as a commodity, and every duet becomes a confession. The production will remind us that the road to success often demands more than it seems from the outside.

⭐️ Beloved stage diva Nina (played by Lina Rastokaitė) is gradually losing her place in the spotlight when the shy wardrobe volunteer Ieva (Paula Valentaitė) arrives at the theatre. The seemingly timid young woman soon attracts the attention of those around her: Nina’s husband, composer Džo (Jokūbas Bareikis), director Markas (Simonas Storpirštis / Ainis Storpirštis), and theatre critic Styvas (Ainius Storpirštis / Mykolas Vildžiūnas) all become fascinated with her. Eventually, Ieva gets the lead role in a new production, while Nina is offered a supporting role. Is it all just coincidence, or a carefully planned path to fame?

⭐️ A constellation of Lithuanian acting talent comes together on stage: Lina Rastokaitė, Jokūbas Bareikis, Simonas Storpirštis, Oneida Kunsunga, Agnė Šataitė, Paula Valentaitė, Adelė Šuminskaitė, Ainis Storpirštis and Mykolas Vildžiūnas. Songs from the legendary film “A Star Is Born” will also be performed live during the show, making this a theatre evening with a unique experience.

⭐️ “This Is How a Star Was Born” is inspired by two iconic films: Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s “All About Eve” (1950) and Bradley Cooper’s “A Star Is Born” (2018). This original play brings together the themes of both works in a story relevant to today, and begins its tour around the country on October 8.
