The psychological detective drama “Identification of the Spirit” is based on Ariel Dorfman’s play “Death and the Maiden.” It is set in a country that has endured a period of political dictatorship and repression. The protagonist is convinced that a chance visitor to her home is the person who tortured and abused her years earlier in the regime’s prison cells. Confronting the past, she seeks to obtain an admission of guilt and restore justice. The production explores memory, trauma, revenge, and moral choice, gradually becoming a tense psychological thriller in which the line between truth and subjective perception grows increasingly blurred.
