Stellan Wigh has written a moving portrayal of Sara, a young woman in 1930s Sweden, and her struggle in a world shaped by fear and prejudice. Come and hear Stellan Wigh talk about the book with the dramatic title “Kvävd”, about a woman named Sara. It is both a moving and tragic story about a creative and enterprising woman who was given no room in the male-dominated society that existed in Sweden in the early 20th century. The book contains much local history and is set in Malmö and Barsebäckshamn. The novel also offers deeper insight into the major political divisions that prevailed, primarily between the working class and those with ‘nationalist’ views, during the interwar period. Registration opens on 31 August. Register via the linked text, or by calling 040-660 85 25.
