Birthday month discount: 13% off! In the former home of two major cultural figures, Johann Voldemar Jannsen (1819–1890) and Lydia Koidula (1843–1886), the permanent exhibition at Koidula Museum presents their lives and work in the context of the Estonian National Awakening. The house is also culturally and historically significant as a school for country children and the editorial office of the weekly newspaper Perno Postimees. The permanent exhibition is complemented by a temporary exhibition hall on the museum’s second floor, where visitors can also view a retrospective of Koidula productions and television programmes and read the newspapers Postimees and Pärnu Postimees. The museum house includes a large garden behind it, which is only a small part of the grounds of the former Ülejõe school farm. The garden features an educational discovery trail for little Lydia, or Lolla, and an open-air stage. Art and history exhibitions are held year-round in the gallery beside the open-air stage.
