“Lullaby for the Earth” is an interactive music and movement performance for children aged 3–5. In language children can understand, the performance explores the problem of pollution, its causes and consequences: littering, air pollution, the decline of animal populations, global warming, heavy rain and more. How can we help the Earth? The creators propose a symbolic act of soothing and comforting it. To express this, they have chosen lullabies performed in the original languages of different countries around the world. The performance has no continuous plot or story told in words, and no specific characters. Nor does it preach! “Lullaby for the Earth” is an immersive performance in which the actors interact directly with the children—not from a stage, but by inviting them into the performance space and offering a different action-game in each scene. Ieva Jackevičiūtė is a director and lecturer. In June 2024, she earned a Doctor of Arts degree, having analysed the specific aspects of creating performances for children. The artist leads movement theatre workshops for children, provides training for educators, and directs performances at state theatres and at No Shoes Theatre. The performance was created together with No Shoes Theatre. The project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
