Beans

Alfonsas and Brigita have lived together for many years. Like many couples who have spent decades together, they are thoroughly fed up with each other. Their daily life is full of arguments, disagreements of all kinds, and minor domestic conflicts. One fateful day brings them sacks of beans, a homemade freight lift, and an unexpected chance to talk. Can they still hear each other? This story, full of gentle humor and sentimentality, invites us to reflect alongside an elderly, uniquely charming couple on questions that concern us all, in this life and the next. “Beans” is one of playwright Daiva Čepauskaitė’s (born 1967) first plays. She received the Golden Stage Cross for it in 2007. The project is funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
