Danse Macabre | “Naujas Aplankas (4)” Festival

Danse Macabre is a musical immersive performance inspired by Latin American magical realism in literature and rhythms in music. You are invited to the opening party of an afterlife restaurant, where the stories of five characters intertwine. The performance explores unfulfilled wishes, desires and dreams, and approaches the subject of death with humour, absurdity and irony, raising the question: what does it mean to live here and now? Danse Macabre was created through a collaborative process. It was prompted by an overwhelming sense of instability while following world news and observing tensions building in society. The creators conceived a performance that would speak about the importance of the present moment: living without waiting or expecting anything, striving to fully experience what is happening now, boldly facing the future and appreciating all the gifts we have.
