The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra explores emotional tides and the power of fairy tales under the direction of Alan Gilbert, with concertmaster Malin Broman as soloist. The concert opens with Dalit Warshaw’s *Responses*, written as an answer to three intermezzi by Johannes Brahms, and continues with Béla Bartók’s First Violin Concerto—a personal, lyrical work in two movements that holds both dream and dance. After the interval comes Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s *Scheherazade*: a vivid orchestral suite in which the solo violin becomes the narrator in a world of adventure, sea breezes and Oriental tales.
